Why your business NEEDS a website!

Let’s face it, it’s the 21st Century and EVERY business should not only have a professional website for their company-but they NEED one!

Quite simply, first and foremost-your customers (and future potential customers) need to be able find you!  It’s great to own your own business whether it’s a small corner shop, a café or maybe a small independent company you run from your home such as a dog sitting service or a cleaning company.  However if your customers can’t find you in the first place you’re not going to be in business for very long!  It’s the digital age and it has been for some time now.  Clients and customers need to find out about your business easily and quickly online.  They need to know where you are located, what services and/or products you provide, your hours of operation, an easy way to contact you directly, and basic information on you and your business itself.

Having a professional looking, affordable, and informative up-to-date website allows the public to find you!  Virtually everyone has a smartphone these days, a home computer, tablet or other internet connected device.  Having access to quick, reliable information about your company will allow people to reach you for your services and in turn – put money in your pocket.  Remember, your site needs to be professional looking, accurate and modern as well with an easy navigational interface so people can find what they are looking for.  If your site is outdated, difficult to find information on or visually unappealing- your customers will go elsewhere.

TOO often I talk to business owners who view having a website as an unneeded expense.  In reality it is a much needed and necessary part of your business operation.  Without one people cannot contact you and they will go to someone they can.

Another trend I too often see today are business owners thinking if they simply have a Facebook page for their business then that is enough.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Facebook is a great media tool and it allows you to share information with your existing (and following) customer base.  However, it does not allow NEW clients to find you very easily.  Ask yourself  “When was the last time you checked online to find out about a local Italian Restaurant or Decorating Company in your area?”  Did you go on Facebook and start sorting through company pages hoping to find one?  Or did you do what 95% of people do and try a Google search to find one of those businesses in your neighbourhood?  I’ll bet it was the latter!  People don’t search Facebook to FIND businesses, they use search engines such as Yahoo, Google or others.  They may even use a service such as Yelp to get information about your business, but even if they find you, they may not come by if you don’t have a website to visit to find out further information such as menu lists, prices, your location, hours of operation and more.
